It seemed fitting for me to write this week’s Three New Mexicans to know since, well, I really don’t know any New Mexicans.

I guess I should start by introducing myself. For those of you who missed the recent announcement, my name is Meagan Nichols and I’m the new editor-in-chief of Albuquerque Business First. I come to the Land of Enhancement via our sister paper in Memphis where I most recently served as the managing editor.

Though, I should clarify, I am not physically in ABQ quite yet. In this virtual world, I am working remotely for now and will relocate later this summer. So yes, there’s a lot of people I have yet to meet and need to know.

So why not start with three people who have helped put a spotlight on ABQ via their groundbreaking work across various sectors. -Meagan Nichols

Dorian Rader, Managing partner, NMA Ventures

Dorian Rader works with funding early-stage, technology companies based in New Mexico. She’s been with the venture capital firm for two years now.

Born and raised in Bosque Farms, Rader’s worked in the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystems for several years, including as a senior associate at Village Capital, an angel-in-residence at Sandia National Laboratories and as vice president of the New Mexico Angels.

“I love being a part of a startup's commercialization journey, and it's even more fulfilling that I can do it in my home state,” she said.

Among NMA's portfolio companies are Mindset, EveryDay Contacts, Fusion Funnel and mPower Technologies, which just announced its involvement in designing lunar charging stations for NASA.

Also named were Deirdre Firth - Deputy director, City of Albuquerque’s Economic Development Department and Kristina Trujillo.
