Meet Dorian.

Dorian Rader is a pioneer. She has spent her career as one of the few women in venture capital, became the youngest fund manager in state history in 2017, and now is one of only a handful managing a venture capital firm. In her position as Managing Partner of OneTen Capital, she is continuing her life’s work of growing innovative technology startups in New Mexico.

Although Dorian has seen the number of women in venture capital grow, they still only make up 5% of the VC managing partners nationwide. She has witnessed how only 2% of the companies that receive venture capital funding each year are headed by women. And now she’s decided it’s time to use her experience, position, and power to change that.

Dorian believes strongly in mentoring and education. So if a company is not right for funding now, with her guidance they can become a fundable company. This helps raise the level of the business ecosystem across the region.

Her career builds on her beginnings as an entrepreneur with a water tech startup. After being introduced to angel investors at a UNM business competition she was fascinated, and began to study the world of capital investment. Since then Dorian has launched 14 high-tech companies and used her background in finance and operations to ensure that these organizations are stable and fiscally responsible.

In addition to the fund, Dorian co-founded New Mexico Startup Factory to license innovations from research institutions in order to create investable companies. She was also the Angel-in-Residence at Sandia National Laboratories, and led the Water Accelerator for impact fund, Village Capital. She continues to advise as Angel Emertius to the New Mexico Angels, where she served as Vice President for the better part of a decade.

Apart from her immersion in high tech business, Dorian is an active in the community as a youth soccer coach, Honorary Commander for the US Air Force at Kirtland Air Force Base, and even bakes birthday cakes for underprivileged kids in Albuquerque as part of For Goodness Cakes.

Dorian holds a BBA from UNM Anderson School of Management with a focus in Entrepreneurial Studies, is a graduate of VC University and holds certificates in Specialization in Strategy from Harvard University and Cornell University.

She is a proud mom to two young children and co-owns the state’s premier radiant heating company, Outlaw Mechanical with her husband.
